Larry Lucas
William “Larry” Lucas is a distinguished leader in healthcare and medical access, and the former Vice President of Government Affairs Diversity Programs for the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA). He penned a nationally syndicated column on medical innovation and held public affairs roles at various organizations before joining PhRMA in 1990. Lucas’s contributions to healthcare have been widely recognized. In 2009, he received awards from National Medical Association, National Hispanic Medical Association, and National Minority Quality Forum. The Congressional Black Caucus Fall Health Braintrust gave him its first Lifetime Achievement Award in 2010. The Mississippi Legislature honored him in 2011, and in 2012, he received the Washington Government Relations Group's "Tin Cup" Lifetime Achievement Award. His most recent accolade was the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s Phoenix Body Award in 2020. Lucas has served on several boards including the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, National NAACP Board of Trustees, and more. An alumnus of Jackson State University, he honorably served in the United States Air Force.
